This is the traveler’s version of ‘to be or not to be’. Most of the times I don’t consider I have enough money to travel but then I see a great deal and I’m like ‘I have to go! It’s not that expensive after all!’ And that’s how I always spend all my money on traveling.

I am that type of person who has to have a few trips planned in advance in order to have something to look forward to. Working a full time job, means that I have to carefully plan every trip and planning ahead helps me get over every week of work easier.

My life in a nutshell:

For me, traveling is something I always think about. I’m always thinking about where to go next and how to spend as little money as possible. Now that I’ve said that, maybe I’m not the best person to answer the question ‘Should I buy that plane ticket or not?’ but I’ll let you know a few things from my experience.

1.Always search for accommodation, food and activities prices before booking a plane ticket

Once upon a time I found really cheap plane tickets to Iceland (a place I wanted to go for a long time). And what did I do? I booked them without searching in advance accommodation and food prices. Nor did I search for how much it will cost me to visit the most important milestones in Iceland. Well, the whole trip ended up costing me a lot more money than I initially expected.

Yes, it was an amazing experience and I loved every minute spent in Iceland but I wished I knew before booking the plane tickets what to expect.

2. Know when the plane tickets really are expensive

Well, it’s true that I can’t resist buying plane tickets but sometimes I should acknowledge that they are too expensive. In order to see if the plane tickets really are expensive, I suggest using a website such as Sky Scanner which helps you see prices from different providers.

What I love about Sky Scanner is that I can search for flights to any destination by typing in the destination field ‘everywhere’. Or I can search for the best deal in a certain month by selecting the month when I want to travel. I think Sky Scanner is one of the most flexible flight searching engines.

3. Plan, plan, plan

Prices also depend on how much time you are buying the tickets ahead. The earlier you book your plane tickets, the lower the prices will be. Also, if your job allows you to take time off on the last minute, you can buy your tickets just a few days in advance because airlines usually have discounts a few days before the flight.

No matter how much I paid for plane tickets, I will never regret any trip I have taken. In my opinion, travel money is money spent well. The memories you make while traveling will stay with you for life and this is priceless.

If you get through all the above points and you check accommodation and food prices and they are ok, if you check for the best deals and carefully plan your trip, then you should definitely buy those plane tickets and enjoy your vacation!

May the travel bug bite you!
