G Hotel Kelawai Review – where style meets luxury

After spending a few days in the middle of nature and eating tons of strawberries at Cameron Highlands, it was time to head North to George Town, Penang. Here, we loved discovering the amazing street art, colorful temples and incredible food. Our trip to George Town was a pleasant surprise but it would have never been the same without our stay at G Hotel Kelawai.

Even though George Town is a UNESCO world heritage site, the fusion between traditional and modernity is present all around the city. G Hotel Kelawai impressed me with its iconic, chic and modern design which can be noticed in every little detail.

1. Accessibility

Located in the Jalan Kelawai area, G Hotel Kelawai is extremely easy to reach by taxi. Another advantage is that the hotel is located close to many George Town attractions such as Wat Chaiyamangalaran Temple and Dhammikarama Burmese Temple.

If you want to relax a bit while shopping, don’t worry! G Hotel Kelawai is within walking distance from Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon.

2. Reception & Staff

Our welcome to G Hotel Kelawai was warm and cold at the same time. Let me tell you why. The staff was incredibly professional and they greeted us with big smiles and a cup of ice-cream. How cool is this? After travelling for quite a few hours from Cameron Highlands through extreme temperatures, some ice-cream was all I needed.

While waiting for the check-in procedures, I couldn’t help but notice the chic design with golden details. It all seemed so cozy and intimate but with a touch of luxury.

3. Our Executive Premier Room

Spacious, elegant, modern, stylish – this is how I would describe our room. With incredible views over George Town and a super-comfy bed, our Executive Premier room was an oasis of relaxation after a full day of exploring the city. My boyfriend and I were pretty excited about the 55-inch smart HD LED TV – it was like having our private cinema in a hotel room.

A nice touch to our stay was the free non-alcoholic minibar. Until now, G Hotel Kelawai was the first hotel that provided a free minibar with juices and sweets (refilled every day). Apart from the minibar, the room also featured an electric kettle, tea and coffee. Also, a big plus is the super fast WiFi – everything you need if you want to get some work done.

The bathroom with marble floors featured a bathtub overlooking the city, as well as a rain shower. However, my favorite part were the organic Appelles toiletries. They immediately revitalized my skin. The bathroom was definitely one of the biggest I’ve seen at a hotel and the white floors and details made me feel like a princess.

Our Executive Premier Room also included free access to the Executive Lounge which was a nice bonus.

4. The G Hotel Kelawai Executive Lounge

Situated on the 24th floor, the G Hotel Kelawai Executive Lounge offers incredible views over George Town. The space is perfect for business meetings or just relaxing while drinking a glass of wine. One of the perks of having access to the Executive Lounge is that every day from 6-8 PM you can take advantage of the complimentary wine, cocktails and selection of appetizers.

Also, every morning, you can choose to have breakfast at the Executive Lounge while enjoying the beautiful panorama. The Executive Lounge will definitely make you feel spoiled.

5. Breakfast at Spoon Cafe

You can also choose to have breakfast at Spoon Cafe. I have to say that I immediately fell in love with the beautiful design which made me think about France. With straight lines, light colors and amazing natural lightning, Spoon Cafe was the perfect place to start my morning at.
