Who am I?

Nice to meet you!

Hi, I’m Aurelia Teslaru (friends call me Aura), a full-time traveler always searching for new destinations to explore. From a young age, society taught me to go to school, get a job, buy a house, and have kids.

I did really well in school. I graduated from the best high school in my hometown and for my Bachelor’s, I went to one of the best universities in the country. For my Master’s Degree, I decided to move to Amsterdam and enroll at the University of Amsterdam, one of the top 50 universities in the world. I was on my way to having a perfect life, according to society at least.

After I finished my Master’s Degree, I returned to Romania and got a job in marketing and advertising. I loved what I was doing and I felt that my life was in a good place.

After about three years of working a full-time job, I realized that me and Dan (my boyfriend) managed to save up a substantial sum of money. For a second we thought about making a down payment for a house but then we realized something.

That money was enough for us to travel the world for more than a year. We had the option to follow what society taught us or follow our dream. We knew that things weren’t going to be easy and that people will judge us for quitting our jobs and leaving everything behind.

However, nothing could stop us.

We sold our car, took our things to our parents’ homes, left our rental apartment, and in February 2018 we bought a one-way ticket to Thailand. We started what was going to be the adventure of our lifetime.

Our journey took us to beautiful waterfalls in Bali, futuristic cities in Japan, jaw-dropping temples in Myanmar, pristine beaches in Thailand, scenic mountains in Vietnam, and many other incredible places. In total, we managed to visit 13 countries.

During this time, whenever we had a few free hours, we worked on this blog, Daily Travel Pill. We wanted to share everything that we’ve experienced with you, our readers. While I’m writing all the travel guides, Dan takes care of the technical part. Have I mentioned that he’s a programmer?

It took over a year until we finally started to see the results of our work but Daily Travel Pill is now one of the biggest travel blogs and I’m very proud of it.

If you want to closely follow our journey, make sure to check out my Monthly Journals. Here you’ll find monthly updates about my life. 🙂

My favorite…

These are some of my best memories from around the world. Travel is a big part of my life and it’d take days to list all the incredible memories I have. Below are just a few of the experiences that changed me and taught me to be more grateful and patient.

Experience

Feeding bananas to elephants in Laos. I am against animal abuse and it took me a while to find an ethical elephant sanctuary. To read everything about my encounter with these majestic animals, click here.

Beach

El Nido is one of the most touristy places in the Philippines but I managed to find this empty beach, away from all the tourists. Psst – it’s called Las Cabanas Beach.

City

I will never forget my trip to Hong Kong. This concrete jungle stole my heart and I can’t wait to go back!

Island

Apart from Bali where I lived for about 8 months, my favorite exotic island is Siquijor in the Philippines. This underdeveloped paradise is still untouched by mass tourism.

What you’ll find on Daily Travel Pill

If you’re looking for reliable and up-to-date travel guides, you’re in the right place. I aim to provide useful information about the places that I’ve visited. My travel guides are packed with tips & tricks and recommendations about things to do, where to eat, places to stay, and other tips that will help you plan your holiday better.

Unlike other travel blogs, you won’t find any guest posts here. Every blog post on Daily Travel Pill has been written by me and I only write about the destinations that I’ve personally visited. I spend hours researching for off-the-beaten-path attractions, cheap hotels, and travel deals.

Let me show you how to travel smarter!

Q&A

How many countries have you visited so far?

I have been to 40 countries and 3 continents. I love learning about new cultures and meeting local people. For me, each country is a new opportunity to learn more about myself while living like a local.

What was your job before starting to travel full time?

I worked in advertising prior to staring this blog. I had a 9-to-5 job at one of the top advertising agencies in Bucharest, Romania and I loved my job. It was challenging, I met many incredible people and I’ve learnt a lot about marketing and branding.

Now, I am using all these skills to build this blog and my own brand.

How do you afford to travel full time?

I have saved up money for the last 2 years, together with my boyfriend. Initially, we had no idea what we were going to do with the money but since we were already traveling a lot, we have decided to start our adventure of full time traveling. You can read more about our decision here.

How do you edit your photos?

Over the years, I have developed my own editing style and my own Lightroom presets. I use Lightroom to edit both my blog and Instagram photos and I absolutely love it! Such a game-changer for any aspiring photographer.

Which is your dream destination?

All my life I have dreamed about visiting Peru, more specifically – Machu Picchu. I was fascinated by all the mystery linked to this place since I was little.

Which is your favorite visited destination?

I think Morocco stole my heart forever. The food is incredible and the people are amazing. Loved all the buzz in the medinas. Truly a vibrant, unique place!

Your perfect day would be…

Walking barefoot on the shore of a tropical beach with a mojito in my hand alongside my loved one.

How old are you?

I was born in 1992. 🙂
