Have you ever dreamed of the perfect vacation? I do this all the time and for me the perfect place to escape the city is an island with white beaches and palm trees. This is exactly what Koh Rong is: a Cambodian paradise not yet touched by mass tourism. Situated in the Gulf of Thailand, with a surface of 78 square km, Koh Rong has it all: party beaches and secluded beaches. If you want to party, then definitely Koh Touch and Police Beach are for you. However, if you are looking for a place a bit more secluded, then I definitely recommend the Sok San Beach Resort.

Sok San Beach Resort is situated on the Western side of Koh Rong. A fact that few people know about this amazing place is that on this beach 2 seasons of Survivor were filmed. Initially, the Sok San Beach Resort was built for the filming crew of the show. As a Survivor fan, it was interesting to see some of the constructions used as part of the competitions in the TV show.
With many room types to choose from, Sok San Beach Resort is suitable for both families and couples. If you are a big family, you can opt for a Villa with Sea View. However, if you are looking for the perfect place for couples I definitely recommend the Deluxe Loft (our choice).
If you plan to get your Vietnam visa from Sihanoukville, click here to see how.
1. Sok San Beach Resort Deluxe Loft rooms
What I loved the most about our room was the fact that it was really spacious and beautifully decorated. I also loved all the different areas designed for work, relaxation and sleep.
We had two fully equipped private bathrooms, our own kitchen (water boiler, coffee, tea, sugar) and a terrace. The room had air conditioning, TV and of course, free WiFi.
The fact that the beach was right in front of our room was just perfect because my mornings always started with a quick swim in the turquoise water.
2. Sok San Beach Resort restaurant and menu
The Sok San Beach Resort restaurant, La Terrasse, is situated right on the edge of the beach. This means that you will enjoy an amazing view over the sea while indulging yourself in the carefully prepared dishes. The restaurant offers a wide range of both Khmer and Western meals.
Breakfast
Breakfast at Sok San Beach Resort will not disappoint you. With a wide variety of dishes to choose from, it can satisfy even the most exigent tastes. You can ask for your favorite omelette (ingredients of your choice), enjoy some fresh fruits or choose from other types of food such as: bacon, potatoes, vegetables and many more.
All day menu
The Sok San Beach Resort menu has many delicious options. From spring rolls to sandwiches, pasta, pizza, fish, Pad Thai or Khemer dishes. Everything looks yum! I found the prices affordable, ranging from 4$ to 15$.
3. Sok San Beach Resort activities
If you are getting bored easily, don’t worry! Sok San Beach Resort provides a wide range of activities to choose from: from spending the day by the beach and swimming while enjoying a cocktail from the Sundeck Beach Bar, to observing the plankton at night or attending fishing or cooking classes.
You can also take a walk to the Sok San village and enjoy the quiet, unspoiled day-to-day life of locals.
4. How to get to Sok San Beach Resort
Sok San Beach Resort ferry
The resort organizes daily boat shuttles (45 min, 25$/ pers) from Sihanoukville Port to Sok San Beach Resort. This is the only direct service available.

The second option to get to Sok San Beach Resort is to arrange your own transport and change two boats. You can take the first boat from Sihanokville to Koh Touch in Koh Rong (11$) and then take the second boat from Koh Touch to Sok San Beach (8$).
