Good to know: If you want to avoid the hustle of finding a tuk tuk driver, you can always book a tour online

  1. Ask around

You will see that most of hotels/ hostels offer overpriced Angkor Wat tuk tuk tours. This is why the best way to find a tuk tuk driver for your Angkor Wat visit is by yourself.
The only thing you need to do is ask a few drivers if they are doing Angkor Wat tours. You will see that most of them will be happy to be your guide. However, do not forget to ask for the price and negotiate it. If the first offer is too high ($25) or more, I would definitely go and ask another driver.

  2. Look for an honest, friendly, English speaking guide

One of the most important things is that your driver speaks English. You will need to agree on how much time you will be spending at each of the temples and where he is going to wait for you. If he has a poor command of English, it will be difficult to agree on the small things.
Also, look for an honest, friendly tuk tuk driver. Just by having a conversation with him, you will see if you like his personality or not.

  3. Once you find your tuk tuk driver, ask for his phone number/ Facebook

It is important to have the means of contacting your driver in case something happens.

  2. Date of tour and pick up time

It is important to agree with your driver on the date of the tour and the pick up hour. Depending on whether you want to see the sunrise or not, you will have to set the hour to start your tour.

  3. What you are going to visit

Most of the tuk tuk drivers will have a map of Angkor Wat with a predefined tour. However, if you wish to visit some additional temples, make sure to inform him.

Hi. Thanks so much. I only carry one backpack so I don’t have too many clothes. I try to be as creative as possible. I sometimes wear scarves as dresses or blouses. Hope it helps 🙂
