Little Kook – Athens’ most charming cafe

Athens is a city full of history, a city where ancient and modern architecture mingles. Modern cars make their way on the streets, passing by centuries-old ruins. Athens is a city of contrasts, with a unique vibe.

Sitting in the shadow of Acropolis, tucked away on a narrow street inside Psyrri area in Athens is the quirky Little Kook Cafe. This is not your traditional cafe with dull decor.

1. About Little Kook Cafe in Athens

Even though this cafe was only opened a few years ago, in 2015, it has quickly gained many fans. Most tourists come and visit it due to the extravagant decorations but Little Kook Cafe has gained its own fans among locals.

Don’t be surprised if you’ll see many Instagrammers here. The place is perfect for pictures and right in front of Little Kook there is a cute narrow street covered by colorful umbrellas. It’s the perfect spot for photography enthusiasts. I must admit that I took a couple (or more) photos here :).

When I visited Little Kook, the cafe’s theme was Mary Poppins. However, the themes are changed regularly and vary according to the season (Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s). If you’re planning to visit this unusual cafe in Athens, let me know in the comments how it’s decorated right now.

There is only one element that stays constant in the cafe’s design – the huge black dragon on the roof.

If you’re traveling with children, this is the perfect place to take them. They can enjoy a sugary dessert while immersing themselves in a fantasy world. Beware – the cakes are super sweet! Bonus – the cafe is smoke-free so you won’t have to worry about keeping the little ones away from the smoke.

Don’t be tricked to think that this cafe is only for children. You’ll see that the crowd is quite varied in terms of age. There is something magical for every age range at Little Kook Athens.

The main neo-classical building has several rooms, all decorated with fairy-tale-like elements. There is a Cinderella room and an Alice in the Wonderland room. Step inside and no matter your age, you’ll feel like a child again.
