Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay – Review

Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay is the perfect choice if you are looking for a good value for money hotel, close to the main attractions of the city and with excellent service. I will break down the reasons why I loved my stay so much in the following review.

While in Singapore, don’t hesitate to visit the colorful Haji Lane Street. Full of awesome restaurants, shops, and street art, this street is the perfect destination for a relaxing evening.

1. Accessibility

Singapore has been on my bucket list for a long time and I just couldn’t wait to explore it. Therefore, I was looking for a hotel easily accessible by both taxi and public transport and with good connections with the rest of the city.

Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay proved to be the best choice since I could get pretty much anywhere around the city by bus or subway. Also, I loved that the hotel was within walking distance of Chinatown and the Old Hill Police Station (one of the most colorful buildings in Singapore).

2. A green and environmentally conscious hotel

The Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay Hotel surprised me with smart features that reduce carbon and the energy spent. Did you know that with every night spent at the hotel you save the equivalent power which can light up a typical fluorescent tub for 330 hours?

Also, the hotel’s architecture is designed in such a way to facilitate the natural ventilation of the corridors and allow natural sunlight in the hotel lobby.

Moreover, the hotel is committed to raising awareness about the endangered species of the world through the ‘Save the hippos’ campaign. I couldn’t help but notice the three funky hippos mascots – Hippy, Happy and Hoppy – around the hotel. If you would like to find out more about this project or donate, click here.

3. Reception & Staff

As soon as I entered the hotel, I fell in love with the simple yet practical design. The reception staff welcomed me with smiling faces and told me all the details about my stay and the facilities at the Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay Hotel.

4. Our room

If I could choose only two words to describe our room, they would be ‘smart’ and ‘comfortable’. Although not extremely spacious, the room was equipped with all the amenities for a great stay.

We had an iron, electric kettle, minibar, complimentary water, TV, air conditioning, work desk, mini-fridge, and great Wi-Fi. One thing that drew my attention was the ready to use Handy Smartphone offering unlimited local and international calls and mobile internet – it was a great add on to our stay.

Also, the bed was super-comfy and I loved that we had both soft and firm pillows. Last but not least, the view from our floor-to-ceiling window was amazing – the Singapore skyline by night is simply breathtaking.

5. Breakfast

Breakfast starts at 6 am and ends at 10.30 am which is perfect for both morning people and the ones who want to sleep more. In terms of food options, the Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay Hotel breakfast has a wide range of options: pastry, fruits, cereals, and international food.

I loved the Grab & Go service designed for the ones who are in a hurry. With this service, you can skip the queue and head straight to the Grab & Go counter where you can pick a beverage, muffin or fresh fruits.

6. Rooftop pool and terrace

With such a beautiful view over Singapore, it is a shame not to try the 40 m long rooftop pool at Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay Hotel. Unlike other hotels which have small pools just for relaxation, I loved that this pool was long enough for a good swim. If you just want to relax, you can always soak up some sun one of the sunbeds or you can try the jacuzzi.
