Monthly Travel Journal – June 2020

I survived another month of lockdown, another month without international travel.

I had many plans for this summer. I was supposed to go to an awesome music festival and see Twenty One Pilots, I was supposed to go to Georgia, Armenia, Czechia, Greece, and Turkey. I had to cancel all these plans.

As a travel blogger, people keep asking me if I’m considering traveling right now. Well, I don’t. I don’t think it’s safe to travel outside the country yet. However, I am planning a few short trips inside Romania, my home country in the next months.

June passed by without any major events. I worked on the blog, visited my parents in Brasov, and did a short road trip to a beautiful waterfall (see pic below).

Also, we did a spontaneous day trip to the seaside on one of the weekends. From Bucharest to the seaside it’s a 2 and half hour drive. We visited the most popular summer destination in Romania – Mamaia.

We walked on the beach, listened to the breeze, and enjoyed a relaxing day away from the traffic of Bucharest. Honestly, with no future travels in sight, visiting Mamaia felt like a trip to the Philippines. I was super excited and I loved this short trip.

Also, I discovered my talent as a painter this month.

A few months ago I bought a paint-by-numbers painting from Aliexpress and I finally managed to find the time to finish it. If you like to paint but you’re not very good at it, I recommend trying painting by numbers.

For $20 I got a package that included the canvas, brushes, and acrylic paint. All I had to do was match the numbers on the canvas with the corresponding colors and Voila!

It took me about 5 days to finish this painting but I love the result. I can’t wait to hang my colorful deer on one of the walls in my apartment. What do you say, would you ever try painting by numbers?

In my free time, I started watching a new TV series that I absolutely love – Better Call Saul. Most of the actors are from Breaking Bad.

If you watched and loved Breaking Bad, you’ll love Better Call Saul too.

Blog updates

I’m super-happy because this month I was nominated by Elle Romania for the Best Travel Blog Award. I didn’t win but it was an honor to be nominated together with other creative and passionate people.

Other than that, my blog’s traffic is slooooowly starting to increase.

For many people, travel is not a priority right now and it shouldn’t be. In my opinion, it would take another year for travel to recover to about 70% of previous numbers. I expect that people will start to travel more at the beginning of 2020.

Meanwhile, I’ll keep updating old blog posts and creating new content. Travel is not dead and will never be. I’m committed to this blog and I put all my energy into it.
