Monthly Travel Journal – October 2019

October is my favorite month of the year. Can you guess why? Because my birthday is in October! Well, that’s one of the reasons but I also love this month because the weather in Romania is starting to cool down.

October is that time of the year with perfect weather and awesome autumn scenery. I kinda missed the cold weather. For the past two autumns I’ve been in Asia, wearing dresses and sweating like a pig.

I’m glad that now I’m able to fully enjoy the 4 seasons of the year but at the same time I’m starting to miss my adventures in Asia. Ugh. My brain is undecided :)).

Let’s start with the travel section of my journal. Are you curious to find out where I’ve been?

1. Travel

If you’re following my monthly travel journals, you already know where I’ve been in October. Yes, in Italy!

I spent 3 days in Bologna with my high school friend, Madalina. We haven’t seen each other while I traveled in Asia and it was time to catch up! So we decided to go on a trip just us, the girls.

Honestly, we chose Bologna as a destination because the plane tickets were incredibly cheap but we ended up falling in love with this beautiful, full of history city.

My favorite tourist attraction in the city was the food. No, really. In Bologna I had the best Lasagna in my entire life! It tasted like heaven with a side of fairy dust. I also loved tortellini but if I had to choose, I’d choose Lasagna over and over again.

We also tried some local salami and cheese and it was delicious! What can I say, the food in Bologna is amazing!

Let’s talk about actual tourist attractions because I’m starting to get hungry and I really want to finish this journal :)).

Did you know that Pisa is not the only city with a leaning tower in Italy? Bologna has one too! Garisenda Tower in Bologna leans at 4 degrees while the Leaning Tower of Pisa leans at only 3.97 degrees. How cool is that?

Bologna also has a beautiful canal, that makes it look like Venice. It’s truly a beautiful city, with lots of porticos (arches). I know that most people visit Bologna as a day trip from Florence or Ravenna but this city really deserves more attention.

2. Travel Plans

Next month I’m going to Bruges with my mom! I’ve already been to Bruges once with Dan and I loved the city! We’re also thinking about taking a day trip to Ghent and I’m really excited about this trip!

Fingers crossed that the weather will be nice!

3. Daily life updates

Life update no. 1 – we got a new car!

When we decided to travel full time, we quit our jobs and sold our car. Well, now that we’re back, we needed a car. Living in Bucharest without a car is almost impossible.

Therefore, at the beginning of October we bought a second-hand Ford Focus. It’s an affordable and very reliable car. Btw, did you know that I’m 27 years old and I don’t have a driver’s licence? Yeah, that’s sad. I’m planning to take my driver’s licence next spring so fingers crossed.

Life update no. 2 – I cut my hair!

All my life I had long hair but lately I started to only keep it in a bun. That’s when I realized that I need to change my hairstyle. I searched for a good hairstylist and voila! Let me know if you like it!

4. What I’ve been watching

I finished “Dark” and I’m about to finish “Shameless” too. It’s really hard to find a TV series to fall in love with so if you have any recommendations of comedies, let me know in the comments.

Shameless is a TV series about how things can go extremely wrong in a family. It’s a drama, coated in comedy. Have you seen it?

5. Blog updates

The blog traffic is growing and everybody’s happy :). I’m really close to 140,000 monthly page views. In October I managed to spend more time on writing and creating new content and I’m really happy about this.

So far, creating new content and learning SEO has been the key to my growth. There is no real shortcut when it comes to growing a blog.

Below are the blog posts I wrote in October:

That’s about it! Thanks for reading my journal and being interested in my life. See you next month!
